OUR STORY

Mercy Crossing started as a small congregation in the early 1940s. It wasn’t flashy. It wasn’t famous. But it was faithful. And because of that faithfulness, God kept opening doors. In 1944, the church moved to Lavinder Street, where it joined the Church of God and began to grow. And grow. And grow. Until, once again, the space just wasn’t enough.

That’s when God provided—again. In 1972, the church purchased land on Clearview Drive, complete with a house that could serve as a parsonage. Two years later, a new chapter began. Over the years, additional buildings were added, ministries expanded, and Mercy Crossing became known as a place where people could experience the love of Jesus in a real and tangible way.

By the late ‘90s, it happened again. The walls were too small for the vision God had given. So, the church took another bold step. In 1999, more than 100 acres of land became available—an opportunity that didn’t make sense financially, but God made a way. Under Pastor Jackie Poe’s leadership, construction began, and on June 5, 2005, Mercy Crossing moved into its current facility. It wasn’t just a building—it was a launching pad. New ministries were birthed. Lives were changed. And the church became a refuge for people from all walks of life.

Now, here’s the thing: That wasn’t the finish line. That was just another starting point. And today, we stand on the edge of something new. The opportunities before us are bigger than any one person, but together, we can step into what God has next.

And here’s the best part—you’re a part of it.

So let’s keep building. Let’s keep reaching. And let’s not stop until everyone has had the chance to experience the mercy and grace we’ve found in Jesus. Because if there’s one thing we’ve learned in this journey, it’s this: When we take a step of faith, God always meets us there.
